Now, I’m reminded why I have never much cared for Georgia fans. I get back from lunch and have an email from one of them. I’ll just do a copy and paste of what he said and then my reply. It’s goes a lil’ somethin’ somethin’ like this:
Ignorant Georgia Fan: Did you hear about the blackout? All the UGA fans will be wearing black this weekend……. I hope the good guys win and the war chickens / kitty cats / plainsboys lose. What’s up with all those mascots? Do you all have identity issues?
My response: Yes, I did hear that you all were wearing black this Saturday. Desperate times calls for desperate measures, I guess. Sort of like how Georgia ran on the field during the Florida game—illegal and no class, but hey, whatever it takes to win the game, eh?
The Plains is the area where Auburn is located. People were called Plainsman back in the day. But, you’ll never hear us yelling, “Go, Plainsman.” Or seeing a Plainsman in a mascot uniform. Trust me. I’ve been to a lot of Auburn games.
Let me explain this one to you so you will know for the future. We have one mascot, which is the tiger. War Eagle is a battle cry back from around 1864. It’s something special and everyone recognizes it and affiliates it with Auburn. Sort of sucks for you that your team doesn’t have anything quite like that, huh? Yeah, I know it does.
No identity crisis here just something unique. Hopefully it’s jealousy on your part, more so than stupidity ... Holla!
I have yet to hear back from him.
